The American TESOL Institute of Florida board of directors announces that Leigh Blanchard has been appointed chief executive officer.
Blanchard currently serves as CEO of TESOL Employs. A non-profit teacher placement service for American TESOL graduates.
Over the past eight years she has been instrumental in leading over five thousand ATI graduates through the process of utilizing their TESOL certification to get a job teaching English abroad.
“Leigh was selected from an extremely talented pool of candidates because of her devotion to meeting the future needs of American TESOL Institute on a global scale, as well as her success in the organization of connecting ATI graduates with teaching positions abroad,” said Michael W. Wascom, J.D., LL.M., President of ATI. “She is a dedicated problem solver who is highly praised and respected by ATI Alumni. We are confident she will progress American TESOL Institute towards continued financial growth through technological innovation.”
A native of Louisiana, Blanchard received a state scholarship, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her career has included working as an English teacher in Shanghai, China, CEO of TESOL Employs, and public relations for the Louisiana Environmental Action Network.
“Leigh brings energy and passion plus a proven track record of leadership, business knowledge and a dedication to American TESOL Institute’s students and alumni,” said Jon Lazarus, CEO of ATI’s One World Ambassador Project. “We are truly honored by Leigh’s willingness to help guide, foster, and illuminate the mission and vision of American TESOL Institute.”
“Leigh is always nice and kind with much passion and patience, our people in ATI-China have been learning a lot form her and her great work,” said David Liang, Executive Director of ATI China.
