The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) evaluates advanced-level English language competence of adult non-native speakers of English such as:
• Students applying to United States, Canadian, British, and other educational institutions where the language of instruction is English.
• Professionals who need English for work or training purposes.
• Anyone interested in obtaining a general assessment of their English language proficiency for educational or employment opportunities.
The MELAB is a secure test battery and is administered only by authorized official examiners in the United States and Canada. Many educational institutions in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries accept the MELAB as an alternative to the TOEFL.

1. Complete the form and attach a passport size photo.
2. Include the test fee, check or money order. The test fee is U.S. $120.00, without the speaking test or $180.00, with the speaking test. Check or money order should be made payable to Washtenaw Community College.
Note: Most schools require the speaking test along with the written test. Check each school's requirement.
3. Your registration is valid for six months. The test fee is non-refundable.
4. Turn in your completed MELAB Official Identification Form with the money order or check at SC 305, or mail to the address below before the deadline.

On Test Day
• Arrive before the scheduled time. Late arrivals cannot take the test on that date. It may be possible to reschedule the test for another date.
• You will need to show evidence of your identity. That can be:
1. A valid passport
2. Permanent Resident Card
3. Official government issued identification with signatures and a photo
Results
• MELAB results are ready within six weeks after you take the test.
• Institutions receive Official MELAB score reports six to seven weeks following the date on which you took the test.
• Scores can be RUSHED to the institutions for an additional fee of $60.
• MELAB results are not given by phone, fax, or email.
